Hello everybody,

Suddenly my PC stopped booting, it gives a quick error message "ACHI bios is not installed" and then monitor goes black with a cursor flashing in the top left corner.

Please help. Any relevant suggestions are very welcome!

Thank you.

P.S. PC is rather new, about a year old only.

I'm not experienced in this matter however from what i have heard other people say, it may have something to do with the RAID configuration on either IDE or SATA drives. If your not using RAID it should be turned off as it can cause a few issues.

Other people have noted that it may have something to do with the battery on the motherboard.

I recommend checking out a few forum discussions where others have experienced the same problem.

Please note there are a number of reasons why you could be getting the error message you mentioned. More often than not it is a hardware issue or an incorrect configuration in the motherboard settings.

Hope someone finds a solution for you.

Dear corney123,

thanks for your reply.
What you say about RAID looks similar to another post I found on Google:
http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic929...
(pls see post #2)

They suggest to switch from "Raid Autodetect AHCI" to combination, but so far I couldn't find in Bios where this option is.

Could you or anyone tell where about in BIOS to look for it?

Thank you.

P.S.
My Bios (v. 1.0.5, 09/14/2007) menu includes:
- Standard CMOS Features
- Advanced BIOS Features
- BOOT Service configuration
- Advanced Chipset Features
- Integrated peripherals
- Power management setup

Others are irrelevant I think.
