HI,
My computer starts with no beep at boot up. Is that normal? My pc does halt suddenly, but because of some hardware or software download. Pl. inform as I could not find such information on net where pc works but no beep at boot.

Can you boot with a boot diskette to a dos prompt? Can you get in the bios program on startup?Did you change a memory stick or one of them failed? If you suspect a boot virus, you can erase the hard drive with Killdisk boot diskette, partition, format and reinstall the system. If all of these fail the motherboard or power supply may be the source of the problem.I would try booting with the freeware Killdisk boot disk:you need to boot. You get to a graphical interface that will guide you.You can also check your hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostics diskette and erase the hard drive. http://www.killdisk.com/ Good luck.
