PC starts boot but won't finish

Just been running much slower than usual for one week, then yesterday suddenly won;t boot! Light comes on on front, have selected "safe mode" plus "last known settings" plus usual boot mode - each time it gets to the beginning of the windows XP screen with the blue bars, then "click!", it turns off and restarts back at the beginning again. No recent hardware or software changes. Motherboard not shorted, inside not dusty, cables not loose. Need to get into my computer asap!! Please help - any ideas? Thankyou
