IMHO HWInfo is nice but the unregistered version for evaluation last only 14 days. After this period you have to register or stop using this utility. Too much hassle! In this case I would use SIW.

I use Belarc Advisor from http://www.belarc.com

It gives you a full detail report right on your web browser that you can print.

It displays: OS, Processor and its speed, Memory amount & slots used/empty, BIOS info, Hard Drive(s) size(es) and free space on them, Hardware info with Serial Numbers, Software Installed, Updates done, Etc.

The program is so small it even fits on a floppy disk.

Who knows, knows and who doesn't know, dosen't know jack!
