Specs: Windows xp
When I turn on my old computer nothing will load and it shuts off. The pc will start but nothing will load, then the power goes off and the screen goes blank. It has been a while since it has worked and I would not even bother but all my deceased father-in-law's geneaology and photos are in my broken pc. I need some kind of help and it is extremely important to me.

Try to access bios. If you can't then maybe see web pages on how to diag power supply. If PS is good then consider a usb external enclosure to put the old drive in to access it with a newer computer.

I support the 'Everybody Draw Mohammed Day'. A religion doesn't deny my freedom.

Clean out the fan, try removing one stick of RAM & the reboot.

But if not possible, try getting a live cd like knoppix to copy the
files you want.
