PC restarts over and over

May 20, 2009 at 14:38:28
Specs: Windows XP
After installing addtional RAM, the PC worked but started to turn off and on automatically. After turning off finally, when we start it, it just shows Windows XP logo and ends up in the page where we get to choose whether we start in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with command prompt or Start Windows Normally. With the first 3 choices, either one results in a window that shows us the partition files and it then hangs. If we start it normally, it will go back to the same window with the 4 choices.

We have reinstalled the old RAM that came with the PC but the problem is still there.

Please help us. Thanks.

bios setting of restart after power outage. Change to disabled

check your power connection, usually what the computer plugs into, isn't holding secure so computer thinks power is going off and on.

bios setting then kicks in since it thought there was a power outage.
