Hi,
I am in search of a software for remote controlling a PC through the internet which is behind a firewall. The firewall is dense: The PC to be controlled does not accept any connects from outside but can establish connects to the outside if they are self-triggered.
Thus the only way to establish a remote control connection is a remote control server software which periodically sends a signal to the outside (which will be used to establish the connection). There are two programs known to me which can do this job:
- Huey Remote control (periodically polls to the client PC, drawback: recent version does not support this feature which is called IP Polling anymore. Old version with IP polling no longer available.)
- GotoMyPC (establishes connection through intermediate server run by gotoMyPC company, drawback: monthly fee to high)
Does anybody know a remote control software (free, shareware or cheap) which can perform the task and does not suffer from aforementioned drawbacks?
Uwe

If gotomypc works than anything should. Try RealVNC
You will have to open up a port to make it happen though. As a system admin you should be able to pick an obscure one not used for anything else and rotate it to maintain security.

I cannot open the port because the system
administrator has a strikt policy not to open any port. Still searching for solutions.Uwe
