Hello, I have had quite a long week with my pc. It started off with a ton of spyware malware, whatever you call it. it downloaded many programs that I never even knew it downloaded, I had a bunch of anti spyware i never downloaded, porn, and some other weird stuff.

I used some software that kills spyware, it killed a bunch of spyware but not all of it. So 2 days ago i bought software from staples called GhostSurf 2005 Platinum and deleted and other stuff that the free spyware killers didnt kill off.

So now my computer doesn't have spyware, even when I scan nothing comes up. Problem I have now is I still have popups coming up maybe 2-3 times an hour to 0 times an hour. But my main problem I'm having now is i get a ton of grey window popup boxes asking me if i want to continue running scripts. Its for a ton of different sites and I'm getting a ton of them every hour, and on my ghost surf the images chached rises continiously from time i boot up. My pc now runs much slower then it was a week ago. Please give me advise to fix this, thanks.

hello mario, you have run spyware programs, but have you checked to see if you have a worm, or trojan installed possibly. Remember that worms basically open the door to your comp, and viruses replicate files, hence slowing your computer down. I'd suggest running a scan for viruses as with that number of spyware found its more then likely you have one or more.

I agree 100% with Beta's post. Most viruses out there today are designed to open up a little door to let in spyware/adware/whateverware. On top of that, since you say there is no spyware on your computer, it could be a different kind of virus that has nothing to do with spyware. Scan for viruses. I use AVG Free Edition and HIGHLY recommend it. As the name hints, it's free to download. Another suggestion I have is to make sure that Script Debugging is off. In Internet Explorer, click Tools->Internet Options. Click the "Advanced" tab. Find "Disable Script Debugging" in the "Browsing" section. Make sure that it is checked. Hit up "http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com" to make sure you have the most recent updates. ANY updates are good, but especially Internet Explorer updates in this case.

In addition to disabling script debugging, turn off "Display a notification about every script error". That's really the biggest one. I didn't really think of it until right after I posted the last message. "Disable Script Debugging is mostly, if not entirely, for Visual Basic Scripts. There ya go.

thanks very much, I just had a friend last night tell me about AVG as well, I have a ton of trjoans on my computer, rescanning and deleteing them with AVG. I'll let you know how it turns out. Also I will be turning off the script debugging and display, sounds like that'll help me surf better and play games better as well. Thanks for the help :)))

Just to be sure you've got it all, can I recommend the free on-line virus scan at the following site:
housecall.trendmicro.com
It managed to pick up a couple of trojans that my previous ( Norton) anti-virus failed to.

this is strange btw, both options "disable script debuggging" and "display a notification about every script area" were check or not checked as stated above. However I still get them and I dont know why

Great advice Nige744, housecall by trendmicro is a great virus checker as well. It has trouble cleaning most viruses because well it is an online scanner, but the in-depth information provided after the scan, helps you to manually remove all the infected files and keys in the registry (which is alot of times better then letting some program do the work). They have my vote.
