we have a 128mb stick of memory in this computer and i have a 64mb sick in another non working computer. i want more memory in this one but will adding the 64mb increase it? i have heard that if i put another memory stick in, the larger one will drop size to the lesser one. so will adding the 64 drop the 128 to 64 giving me what i started with?

It will only change the speed. I.E.-if the 128 is 133 and the 64 is 100 the machine will operate at 100 mh.

It won't reduce the size of the 128 but if the 64 is slower it will slow down the 128. In other words, if the 128 is pc133 and the 64 is pc100, then the system will default to the pc100 speed. You might want to check out a repair/builders shop for used sdram pc133 ram cards. PC100 is getting too pricey and hard to find.
