Specs: Windows XP
Hi. I'm having a problem with ma pc for couple of days.I use a broadband connection.I dont have any UPS and Avast anti virus is installed in ma pc.
Ma pc is turning off automatically without any previous notice or any sign.It just seems like I have a complete power failure! After a while when i restart it may continue till 10 to 15 minutes or it got turned off again just after the restart. I have cleaned the fan in the CPU (just the dust).
Could you please help me out to solve the problem.Lemme know if you required some more information.

So have you checked the system temperatures? Cleaning the dust out of the fan might not be enough. The heatsink might be clogged up and/or the thermal compound between heatsink & CPU might have degraded.

Do you have to wait a period of time after the sudden shutdown before it will restart? A sure sign of overheating.

Boot up into bios and look at system health or similar section. Maybe under Hardware Monitoring. Usually there will be somewhere where CPU temperature is shown together with warning & shutdown thresholds.

You might also consider installing monitoring software such as speedfan
