My PC has recently slowed down a lot. This is especially obvious on shut down. Switching between users is also problematic, sometime the screen goes black & the computer freezes & I have to reset; the strange thing is when it reboots again it does not complain of an improper shutdown!!?? I have also noticed that while I’m not using the PC, there is a lot of hard drive activity which would continue until I get back at my work. I checked the running processes and didn’t come across anything unusual.
I haven't recently added any software. I have checked the system with Norton AV 2005 & Adaware which didn't indicate any problems.
I still have 44.5GB of free space on my 112GB HDD. Any ideas how I can solve this problem?
