After a while My pc hangs. Event viewer doesn't show any errors or warnings. How else do I work out why this is happening? Is there a better computer logger that can work out what's going on and when/why. Otherwise it runs fine. (thank god)

Fascinating as process xp seems to be. I can only see it's use of identifying problems that occur while the computer is still working. When my computer hangs I have no access to the program. I need something that will log and save so that when I reboot I have something to look at. ...unless process xp can do this I'm not sure it will help in this case :(

Boffra suggested checking for temperature and power problems, have you done that? How old is the computer? When did you last clean out the dust/crud inside the case? Checked to make sure all the fans are clean and running?

Try to narrow things down a bit:

0. Turn off your screensaver
1. Disable all startup items via MSCONFIG
2. Run the system for some time or overnight

Then see if the system still up after a while.

Temperature wise it's pretty constant and has good ventilation, though I will keep an extra eye on it. As for programs my computer is pretty minimalistic. My computer can manage an all night session some nights, the hanging is rare, but it still is annoying. firewall reports no problems, nor antivirus. I'd still like a logging program if anyone knows a good one.

Hello Chaft,

A couple of years ago I went through the same problem. It ended up being the power supply. I installed a new 300watt power supply and everything was fine. I guess after the power supply heated up the voltages changed.

Thanks, cmaxfl
