Per has a fix that worked for him. Do this as follows:

Check if you have subinacl.exe installed. If not download and install SubInACL.exe

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...

Copy the text below into the file reset.cmd and then run reset.cmd with administrative rights (it may take a LONG time):

cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools"
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %windir%*.* /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

Run windows update.

The computer will not boot up. It goes to that error message every time I turn it on.

I have no way to access anything that you are reffering to.

Well then i would say time to do a repair but, you don't have an optical drive that works.

Well that's step 1 get an optical drive that works, unless you can find a thumb drive large enough to have xp installation on it and put it in your usb port and run the rapair from there.

Other then what i suggested we really can't help you. It's kind of hard to fix something that doesn't boot into windows and have no way of doing any rapairs on your system if you dont' have access to a rom device or a thumb drive.

I seem to have solved the problem just as stupidly as it was created(dont ask me how).

Needless to say consider this close.

Thank you for the help anyway though.
