when i plug the power cable for my pc into the power point the pc bootsd up automatically for about 5 seconds then switches off, so then i have to go switch it on the standard way by pressing the power button on the pc, The pc was an ex-networked pc, i have since formatted and installed windows xp, i just want to know when i unplug and replug the power cord back into the power point it auti boots up for those 5 seconds and the turns off, ive checked the properties under the network card which is an intel pro and under the power managment where iot says "allow the computer to turn off the device to shut down power is checked" i heard this should be checked and if it wasnt was the problem, but as i said it was checked, ive also heard that this issue is a bios issue, can anyone help? thanks in advanced please send the answer if you have it to: dcfan1@hotmail.com

dcfan1, this is kinda the reverse of your problem, but maybe? "WinXP SP2 doesn't shutdown completely. I was able to solve the problem by checking the "Power down computer after Windows shutdown" box in System Mechanic. It appears that my computer was ready to shutdown before. It just won't power down due to a software setting. I was used to it powering down on its own." That's a reprint from a previous post. Perhaps yours is flagged to boot? HTH. Ed in Texas.
