goto the start button... then to control panel. then user accounts, from there you can add a password.

Hey Jeff;
Go to User Accounts in Control Panel and create a password. Write it down somewhere in case you forget it later.
Start>Settings>Control Panel>User Accounts

Upon password protecting your User Account, XP will ask you if you want your documents etc. protected.
XP puts a time limit on using passwords.
In Windows HELP, click Index then type: recovering passwords
Make the special floppy NOW.

You can also go to Start->Run Type "control userpasswords2" (without quotes)

Instead of Activating a Password on Windows Activate a Password on the BIOS people can log on to safe mode and delete your password and you will lose all your Private Files
