I have a new HP computer with XP preinstalled. I want to partition the hard drive to dual boot with Win 2000. When I go to disk manager it shows no unallocated space. All available hard drove is given to C: I do not have restore CDs HP has put them on the drive in a hidden partition and Customer support is slower than the 7 year itch with advise.

Pick up Partition Magic 7.0 and create a second partition out of the space you create.

I have exactly the same problem. Is it just not possible using diskpart.exe or disk manager to de-allocate space from the primary partition so that other partitions could be created?

How about reformatting my C: drive and re-installing xp? Would this work?

Thanks

Paul
