Ahsan, did it survive the power failure? Can you search for it and go there to install it? Perhaps the failure zapped it and you need to get it again?

If you installed it then you will find it under Programs when you click Start, Programs. If it's not there then it has not been installed. You could also check under Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. If it's there then remove it and try reinstalling it again.

I just installed the Partition Magic 8.0 and when installation was finished then power was cut off.

I wonder if PM has something to do with cutting off electricity to the PC. This is the third post following by this then this.

No proof there. Losing power while doing something on a computer is a frequent cause of problems.

PM 8.0 has lots of bugs.
When you do get it sucessfully installed go to the Symantec site and get the upgrade/patch and install it. It doesn't matter if your PM 8.0 is Powerquest or Symantec - same program - do the same thing.

Symantec does not support updating PM 8.0, when its powerquests, at least I have not found out where to get the update, you have to purchase Ghost to get it and upgrade it. If you have the url where to update it please post.

I have PM 8.0 from Powerquest and have not had any problems with it, but have not had it updated thru Symantec, they just will not support updates for the old PM 8, only 10 now.

Obviously if you have had no problems you haven't done anything affected by the bugs, but it does have bugs.

Symantec bought out Powerquest in circa 2001 and assumed support of PM 8 and Powerquest's other products. Powerquest had already released an update/patch before Symantec bought them out. The update/patch Symantec has is probably exactly the same as Powerquest's, or a slight update of Powerquest's. It is certainly compatible with Powerquests's PM 8.
However, Symantec's support of Powerquest's products has deteriorated since, and the support for older versions may be hard to find or no longer there. However, I am quite sure the update/patch for PM 8.0 is still there somwhere, as we have had people tell us recently that it was.

The update/patch is probably available many places on the web if you search for it.
e.g. one place:
http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilit...

It's 11.5mb, so it is a major update/patch. It would take a long time to download if one has only dial-up.

Before you ever put an application on XP make a restore point first. You can still use system restore to try to fix your pm install. Go back to the last weeks point.

The other way would be to get any files out of registry and folders. It can be done.
