Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as I am... I have Partition Magic 8.0 installed on a NTFS file system (Windows XP Pro) with an added partition for data & downloads (so as not to fragment the drive constantly). Everything works fine until I install Norton Systemworks 2003 Pro -- now my system insists on checking the NTFS partition I created for consistency EVERYTIME I RESTART without fail. Boxes are checked to skip bad sectors by default in PM8 and when the Systemworks is uninstalled the problem goes away. Nothing more than a damn nuisance at this time but wanted to put the information here if anyone else is having the same problem.

Someone shed some light on the subject...

I believe that your problem isn't PM 8 but Norton 2003.

Check with Symantec about compatibility issues with PM 8.

I decided that it was better to uninstall PM and put it on only when I need to change partition sizes. Not a proper fix but it is a cure.

I know from reading and also personal experience that various system utilites on the market can cause more problems than they fix. I agree with Brian. And just because a utility such as Norton's Systemworks 2003 Pro has the Norton name does not guarantee compatibility with the XP OS.

Patition magic causes trouble to every other program, not just Norton.
I hoped that version 8 would be better, but it isn't

Do the partioning in DOS instead
