Hello,
I am freaking out at the moment. I just picked up Partition Magic 8 and was running it to resize my C: drive with some of the data on my D: drive since I was running low on space. Well in the middle of this process the power went out and when it came back up my D drive was missing and says it is a PqRP (Hex) drive basically in Partition Magic screen it comes up as (Other) and doesn't even have a drive letter. There are no options that come up when I look at the tools related to this drive. I am stumpled. Please help. I have a ton of paper work due and of course it was all on the storage drive which I haven't backed up in Far to long =(

I read in the PM help files once that when that happens, you should contact the PowerQuest support people about options for recovering data. There was one article I came across at their site that might help:

Partition magic didn't lose your data. The fact that you lost power when it was partitioning did. The same sort of thing can happen if your defragmenting and you lose power.

Did you make the recovery floppys Partition magic asked you if you wanted to make? If so they may (or may not) help out. But those are your best bet.

Good luck,

This is one of the main reason's for a UPS battery backup for power failures. They always happen just at the WRONG time!

here is a tool I've been using

http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm

there are a few of them out there if all else fails.

someone awhile back posted a free recovery tool I can't remember the name or know how well it worked but there is always hope.
