can install windows 98 no problem, and previously did an "upgrade" install to winxp pro. But now I want to do a clean install of win xp. After booting from the CD, I get to the stage where it asks me to choose a partition, but I get an error message on all of the partions on my computer: "Partition is not Windows XP compatible." Ideally I would like to install to the SCSI disk that the current Windows XP is installed on. The problem is I always get an error that "this partition is not windows xp-compatible" I have tried deleting the partitions and making new ones while in setup mode, and still I get this message. I have 3 hard-drives. I am trying to install to a SCSI hard drive (tekram SCSI card). I even made a new partition with Partition magic (Primary, Fat32, 5GB, but still no luck. Does someone know whats going on? Please help! TIA. Jasmine

Jasmine, you got old partitions and garbage on the disk that is hanging the XP installation. Use the WIN98 boot disk to wipe the disk of all old partitions and logical drives, reset your partition(s) and format in NTFS or FAT32 and you are on your way. With any installation of XP, it's always wise to start with a totally fresh disk, newly partitioned and formatted.
