When I booted up earlier I recieved an error that said Parser Message: Unable to create value" at line 144.

Then, once I got into windows, I could not reboot, shutdown, or even bring up the task manager. Other than that everything seems to work fine, but this leads to a big inconvenience as I have to do a hard shutdown by pressing my computers power button whenever I need to shutdown/reboot.

I read of this same problem in another post on these boards, but it contained no answers, and the board stopped me to let me know that the other post was so old, no one might read it. Has anyone seen this before or know how to fix it?

Okay, I found the solution. So, for anyone else who may have this problem, here it is:

Special thanks to UserXP at the belchfire forums.

What causes this sort of error is a corrupt/bad/missing logonui.exe file. I know it might be cool to customize windows but you can mess some stuff up if you're not careful.
In my particular case, I was using logonstudio by stardock (it's free!). Here's the fix:

Open regedit and go to key "HOT_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon". There you will found the value "UIHost". Change the data there to point to the full path of a valid logonui.exe. (C:\WINDOWS\system32\logonui.exe)
Exit regedit, reboot.

Mine happened to be pointing to logonuiX.exe which was apparently broken. Follow the steps above though and you should be good and don't be afraid of regedit, just be careful!
