Specs: Windows XP
when logging onto the computer popup error appears

Connect BGDL
The parameter is incorrect

popup will not go away

Appears on one of two users. Created new user. Bam - same with new user.

Any help much appeciated

Looks like it might be something to do with Facebook - do you use it? If so it might be a virus, so run your scans. It could also be useful to download, install, update and Run MalwareBytes freebie because this often finds and fixes things that other AV's miss.

Another possibility is that it is the remnants of something. Try running CCleaner free version.

I have this same problem and it has to do with the CS Connect background services for the CS Professional Suite by Thomson Reuters. I went into config.sys and unchecked the CS Connect Background Service and rebooted and didn't have the problem.

It appears that it was popping up because the main program was on the server and I hadn't set up a connection to the server yet with the new user account. You may want to try and logon to the server and have it automatically reconnect on startup.

I just left left the CS Connect Background Services item unchecked in config.sys - my computer boots up much faster now and it should engage when you open one of the programs.
