Every time I load Windows XP, there is a beep (from the internal speaker) and the error message:
"Your system has no paging file, or the paging file is too small."I have tried the following solution, to no avail:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;315270Also I have consulted:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316528
but I do not have an Intel chipset (I have an Athlon processor with VIA chipset). The only way to avoid the beep/error on startup seems to be to disable the swapfile altogether, which seems a pretty lame workaround.
Any more ideas? This problem is seriously irritating!!

I found with Windows 2000 machines that if I SysPreped the machine, this solved the problem. I haven't checked yet if Windows XP has a SysPrep utility- try checking Microsoft's site.
You may also try installing XP's Service Pack 1 if you haven't already.
(No warrenties expressed or implied.)

P.S. Also do a CHKDSK on the drive, to see if maybe there is a bad spot on the drive that the paging file is sitting on.
