Hi. My pagefile is 786MB, and I have installed windows Xp RC2 on a a formated 3GB disk. I have 512MB RAM. Is it enough to disable pagefile? What is the limit of amount of RAM, that one must have, and by disabling pagefile, the preformance increase? Is it enough to disable the pagefile in control panel? What about puting the pagefile in another disk? I have 2, one is partitioned to 2X3GB and the other is 30GB=2GB+18GB+10GB.

IMO I wouldnt mess with the Pagefile too much. Its like virtual memory in Windows 98. If it get set to low the system might have problems booting and running programs.

786MB is good if you have 512MB. And yes you can move it to any drive in your syste. In fact you can have several pagefiles on diffrent drives if you want. There is no problem moving it. Just make sure that if you are using NTFS that the "system" group has full controll on what ever drive you move it to.
The recomended pagefile is the amout of Ram in the system times 1.5. so 512 * 1.5 = 768. And it never hurts to have more, but it can heart to have less.
Summary: Yes, it's normal. While some RAM contents will always be paged out to the pagefile by Windows, very little else will be until available RAM is used up. Running without a pagefile wastes RAM, as the RA...
