tropic - 512Mb RAM should be sufficient ?

lina - have you tried letting Windows manage your Page-File?

My son uses auto cad, and told me it needs a lot of memory. I go along with Tropic.

Autocad has ALWAYS required a huge amount of memory. Add more physical ram. You can't make up the ram shortage with the pagefile.

I stand corrected!

What about letting Windows manage the Page File though - would that help?

The pagefile might be fragmented too much. This little free program will concentrate on defragmenting the system files, so that the HardDisk has easier access to them:
PageDefrag (SysInternals)

But I also agree with the replies above: if the drawings in AutoCAD are too big for the memory, then just get more memory - no way around it, and your whole system will benefit, especially if you need to open other applications at the same time.
