I have my pagefile set to the E: drive because I have windows installed on C:. For some reason, I suddenly see that C: drive has a page file even though it is set to No in the settings. I can't delete the file, or change it's properties (size). The only thing I have done is install the new ATI Omega Catalyst drivers, do they create a pagefiel somehow? It wouldn't be a big deal, but my C: partiion is small, I don't need an extra 767mb on there.

At 768meg that's no leftover. That is your pagefile. Set your pagefile to none for ALL partitions/drive letters. Reboot. Now delete the file if it remains. Don't forget you can't just click OK you have to click Set then OK.

Hi,
Create a Startup Disk, reboot and start your comp. using that diskette and go to c: then type "attrib -r -s -h pagefile.sys:"
then type "del pagefile.sys"
You can even delete the pagefile in e: safely by using above steps.
Dont worry coz when u restart your comp. the windows will automatically create the pagefile in appropriate drive.

having done the above before I know it is not true that windows automatically recreates the pagefile.

By not going thru the gui and deleting the files from outside XP you risk registry corruption. I wouldn't cut XP off at the knees. Might not work right for you on two stumps.

If C and E are two different physical drives, you may actually want two page files because windows can page to two hard drives at the same time.

Just food for thought.

The thing is, I should be able to disable then delete the file on C:. The file on E: is set to system managed, and reads 523mb. Drive C: is set to NO PAGEFILE. Anyone about the catalyst driver thing? In some tweak program I remember reading that a certain setting in regards to virtual memory can cause problems with the drivers. ?
