i was looking around the site and i have a few questions about ram and page files, i currently have 512 ram (and am looking to upgrade to 1024 in a couple of weeks) and was wondering what size the page file would need to be, i have heard just as many people say your system is faster with a small page file as people say to use 1.5xram for the size. so i wanted to see who thought what and what i should do once i get my new ram, thanks

Some say that with over 512 you can turn your page file off, I have 512 and have done this with no adverse results. I find burning CDs uses a lot of RAM so have reactivated it ... for safty.

I would think with a gig of memory you would do it easy ..If you are using a page file I would put it on another physical HDD or in another partition ... I have and again seems to run without bother.

I only have 384 of ram and have turned off my page file, with 512 or 1024 I would turn it off definitely, unless you plan on multitasking all your programs at once, and that is highly unlikely
