hi
am helping a friend fix hes pc but i can's boot it up.

whe i turn it on i can only see the front leds on but nothing else gets power, the cpu fan is not moving and the cdrom drive does not open.

the power supply on this pc has a square 4 pin connector and the regular 20 pin that connect to the mother board.

I just tried to use my power supply but mine does not have the square 4pin connector but is has one that has P7 printed on in and i dont know what this is for.

I have disconnected the cdrom drive,hd,floppy disk and i also remove the ram stick but still nothing works.

my friends power supply model is...
Condegen
model:200x1

Please if anyone can help let me know.

The square 4-pin plug supplies power to the CPU...the system won't boot without it.

well it may sound like a power problem.
but when you say the cpu fan is not spinning.

do test the power supply.

you can get a tester design for power supply tester you can get that at any computer store.

maybe even radio shack do ask for it.

here is a link to get an idea what it looks like.

you may have to copy this link and paste it in the addres bar.

other wise it may get burn out the cpu.

It does sound like you have a failed power supply on your hands. When you purchase a new one, don't be frugile about the cost and $50 ought to get you a fairly decent one.

I've used several eMachines in the past, and the one consistancy I've noticed with all of them is that they all suffered from power supply failures long before any of my other PC's (Sony and Dell desktops).

Rebooting and random shut-downs are one of the first signs of either overheating, or, a dying power supply.

I tested the Power Supply with an older pc with windows 98 and i had no problem.

Thanks everyone it must be the processor or the
mother board but i guess my friend has to spend
some money at the repair shop.

Thank you.
