Comment:

I disabled ALL (100% sure) firewalls on the computer. I want to run Kazaa (or something like it, a P2P program). I have DSL, just got it a month ago. I have to change some advanced settings, can't remember which, but when i hit the "advanced" tab on the properties listing for the local area connection I get this error:

"Windows cannot display the properties of this connection. The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) information might be corrupted. To correct this, use System Restore to restore Windows to an earlier time (called a restore point). System Restore is located in the System Tools folder in Accessories."

System Restore is not an option, plus I tried earlier and it did not work. Any way I can fix this?

Look here first.

Go to Start-Run-(type in...)serivces.msc and scroll down to Windows Management Instrumentation. Highlight it by clicking on it once. Now scroll over and see it it is disabled/manual/automatic, and to see if it is started.

Double click on it and where it says start-up type, clcik on manual or automatic, then click on start. This should resolve the problem.

If it is already started then disable and stop it, then renable and start it again.

I am not sure if you have to do it to the driver extensions either, but if it still does it, then, do the driver extensions as well.

Good Luck

It should be right below WMI and should say WMI (spelled out) Driver Extensions, and you would do the exact same things

If you do not see it, then do not worry about it. There's prob something that's installed on this computer that is not installed on your computer, but i would not worry about it.

Anything with WMI try setting them to automatic and starting the processes, and see what happens. This will not cause harm tou your computer, so you dont have to worry about that.

But if it still does not work, just set everything back to what they were set before you starting probing around.
