I think it might have been an overheating problem, last week it would freeze on me as soon as it loaded to the desktop.

I cleaned all the dust, that i could reach, off of the heatsink that is directly underneath the processor fan and it stayed running perfectly fine for two straight days, then it just froze up... I dont know what else to do. also, how do you take the fan and heatsink apart so i can clean them?

There are usually 4 screws holding them together.

Put your hand on the back of your HDD to see if it is super hot. It may be time for a new drive.

When I think that i have the diagnosis nailed down, it messes up again... now i turned it on for the first time since yesterday and it froze as soon as it booted... I am working off of safe mode right now, but the hard drive doesnt seem overly hot...?

I still need to go home and try Everest, but on this computer it only gives the temp of the hard drives, not the cpu or motherboard
