I have followed Microsoft's instructions (at least 10 x's) to have Outlook auto dial-up using an existing Dial-up connection to my ISP in the background but it won't work. My previous version Outlook 2000 worked fine on my NT computer. This is a brand new Dell out of the box with XP Pro and SP1 installed. Outlook works fine manually, but I would like to poll every hour to collect any e-mail when I am not at my computer. Any ideas?
Thanks.

To autodial, just follow the below instructions:
- Launch IE (internet Explorer)
- Go to the menu Tools/Internet Options
- Select the Tab Connections
In the Dial-Up and VPN settings section, tick the option Always dial my default connection and then click on the button Set Default.
- Click on OK button to save the IE config.
- Launch Outlook XP
- Go to the menu Tools/Options under Outlook XP
- Select the tab Mail Setup
- Tick the following options under Dialup section- Always use an existing dial-up connection
- Automatically dial during a background send/receive- Validate by clicking on the button OK
It should work. Dial-up connection will prompt for a password if it is saved.
