Outlook won't open attachments

Comment:
I just recently set up Outlook express and moved my old files back into it. Everything seems to be there except when I try to open attachments. I am sure my old attachments were not backed up, so I am ok with that but any new attachments that come in are doing the same thing. When I go to open it, it gives me the typical open or save box. No matter what I choice it acts like it is going to open the open or save box closes and I hear it start to process, but nothing ever happens. I am getting no error messages so I have no idea what is wrong. I was also wondering what folder on my system these attachments get saved to.
If I could get any help with this I will forever be in your debt, oh and I will name my first child after you. lol
