Outlook won't delete emails

Hi, I am using MSFT Outlook 2K on Windows XP Pro. My problem is that when I try to delete the new messages from my inbox, they will apeear to be deleted(not on tht list anymore). After I'm done with checking my email I close the program. Later when i need to check my mail again I open up the program, and all the old messages that I had just deleted are back in the inbox again and marked as unread. Does anybody have a fix for this? TIA

Are you sure that the E-Mails aren't just getting redelivered by your ISP? This can and does happen from time to time. Try disconnecting from the internet and trying it and see if they "reappear". Also look in the deleted mail folder to see if they are actually ending up there. Jimi_l

I am having the same problem. It has nothing to do with the server because the email reappears before it connects to the server.

I found your posting by searching for "unable to delete emails in Outlook" because I, too, am having the same weird experience. I have just downloaded and installed all available Microsoft patches, and nothing seems to work. Mine do not disappear upon delete- it is as if the delete key or button on the toolbar is totally inactive. However, if the ability to delete seemed to go away slowly (?)- the delete key wouldn't work but the button did. Any help is appreciated.
