Outlook express-can not delete mail

Hi, I need help... I can not delete mail in outlook express or find previously deleted mail in my deleted folder. I get a message that says unable to connect to outlook express and then a message that says outlook express did not shut down correctly...did not exit correctly due to a problem with last message...message not being shown....... I read some posts about deleting a .dbx file but have no idea what that is or where to find that. I am not very good at computers so please be kind with answers. Thank you.
This might be an ISP problem and you will need to contact their technical support to solve the problem. What settings and account have you checked in Outlook Express?
Thank you for the response..I spoke with att they are the internet provider we use. They told me it is not there problem since we can send and receive emails. They said we will have to contact microsoft...when I try to delete something it says outlook express not responding. As far as the settings and account I do not know what that means.
When you open OutLook Express you will see File>Edit>View>Tools>Message>Help at the very top left corner. Check all the settings there using Tools. For security reasons make sure that the preview pane is disabled. Make sure it is unchecked by selecting view then layout. Have you tried Outlook to see if the same problem exist there too?
