For some reason my brother's Outlook Express won't send mail. He get's the following error message:
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'erikthecartel@hotmail.com'. Subject 'testing', Account: 'pop.earthlink.net', Server: 'smtpauth.earthlink.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 Please configure your mail client to use authentication.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
I've searched Microsoft's Knowledge Base, but couldn't find a relevant answer. Any ideas?
Erik

maybe you need to change the settings
in outlook express, main window
goto tools>accounts>mails>properties>server
and select "log on using secure password authentication" and change settings accordinglythis may help, otherwise contact ur service provider and tell them the problem.
Paradise lost when paradise is found

Man, and I just fixed a computer with the EXACT same problem the other day. I unfortunately don't remember the real servers you need to use for Earthlink, but they're listed in some obscure place on their website. If you search hard enough, you will find it.
Also be sure that the username and password are the ones they gave you for that particular e-mail account. Earthlink has the tendency to change those too.

Try this link
http://support.earthlink.net/mu/1/psc/img/walkthroughs/other/1694.psc.html
Has all the Earthlink connection settings..
Hope this helps

In Outlook:
1. From the Tools menu, click Accounts.
2. Click the Mail tab.
3. Click your Yahoo! Mail account, and then 4. Click Properties.
5. Click Servers.
6. Click to select the My Server Requires Authentication check box, and then click OK.This should solve your problem!
