Good morning,

The last week or so I have not been able to enable my 'Status Bar' in Outlook Express to constantly display.

Once I turn off my computer and then restart it I have to click on the maximize button to get the 'Status bar' to display.

When I go to Outlook Express > View > Layout > the 'Status Bar' button is checked.

This disappearing 'Status Bar' just started about the same time I switched from a dial-up server to a Cable modem.

Any ideas?

Thanks and regards,

Phil

Phil, SWAG, could your dilemma be a result of overlarge screensize? Resize and close using 'file' in order to force windows to 'remember'.

Hi Ed,

I appreciate your input. I have tried your fix and it works until I shut off computer and reboot. Then the status bar does its 'disappearing' act

As for the screen size it is as the manufacturer recommends.

Have a great holiday weekend.

Thanks and regards,

Phil

Hi everyone,

I think I stumbled onto my problem and the fix to boot.

I went to Outlook Express after rebooting about an hour ago and as I expected there was no 'Status Bar'.

I then right-clicked on my Taskbar, selected Properties and saw that the option "Keep the Taskbar on top of other Windows" was checked.

I said 'what the heck' and unchecked it, clicked 'apply' and "Presto" there was my 'Status Bar' under where the taskbar had been.

So, I utilized my 'two ended arrow' and moved the 'status bar' to its normal position (above the taskbar). I then rechecked the option "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" and the Status Bar has stayed put for the last several boots and reboots.

It seems that somehow it slipped under the Taskbar. Once I discovered it was hidden under the taskbar and applied the above mentioned fix everything seems to be back to normal.

Just wanted to supply the fix in case anyone is still following this thread.

Thanks and regards,

Phil
