Outlook Express odd behaviour

July 1, 2009 at 14:19:08
Specs: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, Intel Pentium D processor 820 Dual Core/ 2GB
Sometimes, if I`ve just closed Outlook Express and then decide to look at it again: when I click the icon to turn it on, a little panel comes up saying Outlook Express can`t be started because it`s already running. But it isn`t ! A look into Task Manager on the Applications tab tells me so. So I havw to log off or switch off and start again. Then Outlook Exprpess will turn on.

I regret to say I don`t know how to find out which OE version I`ve got.

If it won't open again right away, then the process is still running.

So, either leave it open, or wait for a short period of time before reopening. Or, end the process if it's still running.

ThanksJennifer. . I see you`re very active helping people. It`s very good of you. I think it`s a disgrace that these makers of hardware and software can`t be bothered to issue comprehensive instructions themselves and run their own helpline. But they don`t want any customer contact, and we`ve let them get away with it. Hooray for people like you.

From your reply I deduce that Task Manager can`t be trusted. In my case the Applications column in Task Manager was completely empty when the little panel said that the process was still running, so I had and have no way of stopping the process. I will take your advice and wait a little before trying to re-open. Very odd, though, isn`t it ? A real malfunction if you ask me !
