Comment:

Every time I get a message containing graphics embedded - pictures etc - not attachments all I get is a little box with a big X in it. I've looked in TOOLS, OPTIONS but nothing seems amiss.

Any other ideas?

Paul

I'm guessing either two(2) things.

1.Configure your firewall/check for applications accessing the net

2. customize your pagefile/check your visual effects settings

In OE go to Tools / Options / Security and untick Download Images / Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail.

Unity is strength.

Override: Thanks for the feedback.
1. I've been using ZoneLAb firewall for quite a few years and I haven't had the problem until recently when I installed a new 80 Gig HD and reinstalled Windows XP. As for applications accessing the internet I don't see the relevence.
2. Could you elaborate, please? I haven't a clue what you are referring to.

Arctos: I'm using OE 6 and there is no mention of a 'Download Images/Block Images' in the security tab.

XPUser4Real: I tried the links you gave. Both relate to sending images. My problem is receiving images.

Thanks again to all.

Paul

Do you see those white squares with a small red X in a corner(where pics should be) within websites?

This is the reason I mentioned firewall programs and/or pagefile issues.

I've seen this and from what I can recall I tweaked the pagefile and/or the firewall.

unless you need to download macromedia software.

And by; "I've looked in TOOLS, OPTIONS but nothing seems amiss" you mean that you looked in the AdvancedTab and made sure under Multimedia a check mark is placed in 'show pictures'? I know, I know this is basic procedures but you never know how many people out here don't know.
