Strange occurence of Outlook Express not sending any data upon loading and "checking mail" from a hotmail account. Packet sniffer doesn't report any traffic sent or received at all. If i load Internet explorer or just ping something, and then load OE, then it works. But if come back after 15 mins, same thing happens again. IE settings checked to "automatically detect settings". OE settings set to always use LAN connection. NIC drivers came with XP and install correctly. Wifi, telephony services disabled. OE just doesn't want to connect by itself... No anti-virus or anti-spyware present, except for AVG which was installed and removed.

What is your receiving (account checking) interval set to? Did it ever work properly? If so, what happened immediately preceding the problem?
Just an FYI for future reference, OE questions are better answered in the Office Software Forum.

Interval set to 30mins but never used. The way i test it is i reboot the computer then go straight in OE and it doesn't work unless i ping/go in IE first.
It used to work until i re-installed Windows XP and programs. I might have to re-install again but was hoping for a fix.

What are you connection settings? What happens if you set the Check for new messages to 1 or 2 minutes?
