Outlook Express: Can't delete email

Some emails duplicate themselves from as little as twice to 190 times. The emails that duplicate come from a variety of sources like Wells Fargo, private parties or even when there is an automated message that an email didn't make it through. Now I can't delete emails from the inbox or the sent items. For a while, when deleting the repeating emails, I had to delete about 20 at a time then go to the deleted items folder and delete them from there then go back to the inbox and repeat. The deleted folder is empty now, I had been saving emails there but they all went away..... How do I stop repeating emails and get Outlook Express to let me delete emails again? Thanks, Eidem
