Comment:

I have a problem with received mail in OE, when opening mails in Inbox the mail itself doesn't open, instead there are two attached files, one .txt and one .html beginning with the text "Att00015.txt" and "att00016.htm". I have to double-click on one of these to read the actual mail contents. The preview window doesn't show the mail either. Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed, or is there som type of corruption in OE itself?
Any suggestions always welcome!

Thanks,
Marcus

How to get Windows to stop blocking e-mail attachments in Outlook Express

Open OE > Tools > Options , select the Security tab , take the tick out of "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".

Thanks for the reply. However, the problem is the other way around. After using System Restore to restore the computer to a few days back in time, the problem showed up. All e-mail in the inbox is affected, the text in the e-mails desn't show up in the preview pane and when double-clicked the text in the e-mail isn't shown. Instead there are two icons in the field "Attach", one .htm and one .txt. It looks like an outgoing mail where one would attach two files and then send, but it's the other way around, incoming mails are "attached" to the mail itself.
More ideas are welcome.

Thanks,
Marcus

Repair IE6
http://is-it-true.org/nt/xp/utips/utips13.shtml
Windows XP comes with Internet Explorer 6. Microsoft has made IE part of the core operating system. If you think IE is screwed up, and want to repair it, you must use the sfc command:

Sfc /scannow

which will scan and restore protected system files (which IE is).

If this does not work, check out How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP
