I switched from Dialup to Broadband OE unuseable now....Verizon can NOT help me ..they said put in anything and it will work! YES they said that!!! I've tried setting it up w gmail, yahoo...they send, but it all goes to the gmail and yahoo sites! No messages come to outlook! My old dialup said THEY could keep me on just for OE...I signed up...THEN they said it's only good for OUTgoing~! This is my las hope, this forum...I've tried the suggestions of over 15 people on my mailing list, NOTHING helped...HELLLLLLLLP!

"I've tried setting it up w gmail, yahoo...they send, but it all goes to the gmail and yahoo sites! No messages come to outlook!" Not sure what that means. Do you mean you're using their servers in your account configuration?
Have you configured Outlook Express to use your verizon email servers?
You really need to be more clear.

Is this Verizon DSL? If so did you sign up with Yahoo mail. If so - open outlook express and click on tools then accounts. Click on the mail tab to add the new Yahoo account. It is a POP 3 account and the incoming mail is POP3 incoming.yahoo.verizon.net and the outgoing mail is SMTP outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
The account name is the name you signed up as your e-mail name less the @verizon.net and then add your password.
Check off remember password and check off my server. That is how mine is set up and it works fine. When you open outlook express it will transfer all the verizon mail to outlook.

Your post was kinda confusing to me, Sweet Image. I don't know if the following will help, but I thought I would try.
To set up Outlook Express for most mail servers you need to obtain the servers 'POP3' and 'SMTP' addresses and set them up.
For eample: Verizon's are
POP = incoming.verizon.net
SMTP = outgoing.verizon.netHotmail is unique. Windows is already partially set up for it.
In OE go to Tools > Accounts > Mail tab > Add > Mail and proceed through the setup.
(edit) Apologies to Marty525. I neglected to refresh and didn't see your post.

Yahoo mail has to be set up as per their web site. Go here for detailed instructions. Sorry cannot help you with gmail

Well I just found out why it won't work...got an email from Yahoo and it's only for Mail Plus customers...they dont' SAY that in 'help'....ooooh well, i will have to settle for yahoo mail, and try to get used to it...sure am disappointed in Broadband...VERY

Yahoo does indeed say you need the Mail Plus in order to POP mail through a client.
Why not just use your Verizon email account? I switched to Verizon DSL two years ago and couldn't be happier with the performance. Your DSL service has nothing to do with the Yahoo Mail issue.
Someone isn't much for answering questions. So I don't expect any for the question I posed. :)

Jennifer, it's not that I don't like to answer, twic now i've been told my answers were too long and to re-submit...I have tried every thing you can imagine...I don't think there is anything I have NOT tried, working with my old dial up techs, my HP techs, and the VErizon techs, plus over 15 friends, some of whom are also techs...there seems to be no way to use OE with Broadband..>Verizon told me put ANY email address I wanted in the smtp, etc and it would work! tha's how good THEIR broadband tech people are! I'm glad you are happy w Broadband...it's been 1000% total frustration for me...and the MAIN thing i need...I don't have now..

Of course there is. You don't put an email address in the "smtp, etc". You need to enter the server information.
Firstly, did you setup your Verizon email account? If so, all you need to do is configure your email account settings to use that userID, password, and the proper verizon server, which aegis gave you.

"Yahoo does indeed say you need the Mail Plus in order to POP mail through a client."
Yahoo may say that you need the plus account but if you follow my post above you can POP mail thru a client without the Plus account. I do it here all the time with MS Outlook.

"Sweet Image said: I switched from Dialup to Broadband OE unuseable now....Verizon can NOT help me ..they said put in anything and it will work! .....No messages come to outlook!"
JeannieE: We got on Verizon broadband in December and have had trouble on the HP desktop ever since. But not on my Dell laptop. All my OE emails come in to the Dell; NONE come in to the HP. (Yahoo and all other emails come in & send fine on the HP. Just OE that doesn't) I can SEND from the HP on OE.
When we had dial-up, all OE email came in to the HP.
I've been trying new antivirus programs and thinking they may be the problem. First put on free Avast...no OE. Then tried free PC Antivirus and a few OE emails came in, but not all. However, when I was warned by Microsoft that this antivirus was not updating automatically, I decided to try CA on a 90 day trial. This is the one I was using with dial-up that let the messages come in on OE. Not now. Nothing at all coming in on OE. (But sending out, as I said earlier.)
So, is it Verizon, the HP computer, or the antivirus? Verizon hasn't helped at all and I have no tech support on the HP anymore.
Frustrated!
P.S. The Dell has the free AVG antivirus on it, but I'm only allowed one computer to be on the free version.
My trouble seems to be with my antivirus.

I know that you don't put the email where the smtp, etc go...and THAT is what I asked them,...WHAT to put there...their answser was that they only set you up to CONNECT to IE...they offer NO email address, and they cannot HELP you to connect OE TO any other thing...I must have spoken to at least 8 of their techs...most said the above, the 2 who tried to help...could not...they just didn't know...ANYthing to put in..anywhere...i have given up...tryin to use yahoo with its limitations, and forget OE...sigh..>thank you ALL who tried to help...

So I take it you haven't setup a Verizon email account? (As asked in Response number 11.)
If you did, then you would enter that login and user ID and the server information for Verizon. (Responses 3 and 9; again questions unanswered.)
Life's more painless for the brainless.

Yes I did do that...the Verizon people told me they do NOT supply email addresses...they said there is nothing to put in the ingoing and outgoing areas for Verizon...period...I tried the different things here and they didn't work...went back to Verizon and they went thru the same old 'you don't understand, we don't supply email, we only connect you'...sorry i didn't answer your questions exactly, but if there was something new to try i would have...thank you ALL for trying to help, but i have just given up on Outlook, and trying hard to get used to Yahoo to use their service...oh well.

When you signed up with Verizon, you would have had to create a userid. When you were installing the software and configuring your DSL modem, you would have HAD to enter your userid and password.
Verizon DOES provide email access. I don't know what kind of questions you're asking, or who you're talking to, but you have incorrect information. Look here for Verizon email support:
