Well, I don't user Outlook Express, but in the past few days when I power up my NB, I am asked if I wanted to compress my email in Outlook Express. Another weird thing is if I power up my NB without Internet( unplug the internet cable, or turn off the wireless), this message won't show.

PS: I'm using Outlook2007 as my email client.

What is asking you to compress the folder? Can you post a screenshot?

No compression is involved. When I launch Outlook, it starts, but the Setpoint install program starts as well. When I tried to install Microsoft .Net 2.0, the Setpoint installer runs only.

I have removed all Setpoint.exe files I can identify and removed cab files pertaining to the Setpoint install to no avail.

You stated in your OP:

"...when I power up my NB, I am asked if I wanted to compress my email in Outlook Express."

So, I asked, what is asking you to compress?

Your follow up you state:

"...When I launch Outlook, it starts, but the Setpoint install program starts as well."

So, now your using Outlook and NOT Outlook Express.

I have no idea what 'Setpoint' is. If it's interfering with installs then you should remove it.

But since your problem seems geared around using office products you should post in that forum.

I would also ask that you succinctly describe your problem, one thing at a time.

This is the screen shoot:

The message is translated as following:
"If you want release more space, Outlook Express can compress the mails. However it will take a few minutes."

I think the problem is caused by Windows Desktop Search. WDS can't tell which email client I am using.
