I just upgraded to XP and everything works great except for one thing. I CAN'T ACCESS MY E-MAIL!!!!!! Everytime I start OE6 I get a message that says "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

What could be causing this and how can I fix it? Should I re-install? I need my e-mail!

I have same problem with Outlook Express! I checked error log. It indicates a faulting application in msimn.exe. Faulting module is msoe.dll. It appears this file is the problem. How do you get a fix for this with the new XP operating system??

I am in the same club although a reboot usually solves the problem. Error points to documents\user\locals\temt\wer00.tmp\dir.oo\appcompat.txt

I was having the 'could not load msoe.dll' problem. I managed to fix my problem by booting with my XP Home CD and looking for some screen about repairing the installation. Should then reboot, and sit thro 30 mins of joy. I didn't need to do any reformats. I think you have to remember your original accounts (pwds too I think, not sure) when the option comes up to create accounts. All my settings were there, though I had to re-install my sound drives for my Hercules Fortissimo as well as installing the latest XP updates again. Hope this helps!

Here is a solution that worked for me - Try creating a new user and log in under that name. When I did this Outlook Express 6.0 opened without a glitch

Heres the final solution: Sometimes windows XP puts an Outlook Express with a corrupt identity on your computer, sometimes the identity becomes corrupt on its own. The resolution is to go to regedit, delete the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Identities

You'll need to reconfigure your email for your servers, but this is a solution that i've found works with all the issues i've had with OE 6 thus far
