HELP
I bought a brand new computer and installed Office SBE 2003. I set up outlook with the email addresses I have but when I run the send/receive it does not stop downloading my emails - over and over again.
Called HP support, they can't help me as they don't know why outlook is doing this.
Has anyone got an idea? I'd really appreciate your help as I am lost. Thanks

The problem with the mail being stuck COULD be there is an email on the server that has malformed headers, incomplete formatting, or no information (blank emails). The problem is with Microsoft outlook and outlook express. These mail clients cannot get past the bad code and it causes them to hang up, asking for the same email over and over.
What happens if you approach your mail by webmail? Delete the mails you suspect trough the webmail approach.
It's just an idea. Not sure this phenomenon is the case here.Secondly, you could try to approach your mail by a "mailchecker" directly on the mailserver to see if there is a bad message and delete it this way.
Hope you come back with good feedback.
All the best. Pat.
I do my best, but it's never enough!

It looks like you are not far off.
I download my emails to my computer at work and my laptop at home - which means I tend to leave a copy of the email on the email server for about 5 days after I downloaded it in one place (so I can still download it onto the other machine).
It meant that this morning, when I installed Outlook on my laptop, I had about 1,200 emails on the webserver. After downloading the whole lot, it attempted to download them again.
Since I posted this msg, I moved all except today's emails into a temp folder on my email server server and did another send/receive in Outlook. It is working all fine since then - so I guess your theory of a dodgy email is right.
