Solved Outlook cannot access MY e-mails.

Specs: Windows xpsp2, pentium 4 3gh
I am running 2 PCs with exactly the same windows XP SP2. One is a Pentium 4 3ghz. and another a AMD 1.3ghz.No upgrade was done on any one of them. While using the Pentium MS kept urging me to change to Outlook, so I changed to outlook. I can read my e-mails. Only problem is it keeps on refreshing 2 or 3 time every time I click on any mail.

Suddenly the pentium slowed down. So I used my AMD to access my e-mail. I got a shock when I clicked on outlook. The e-mail came out one line here and another further down and so on till the endless bottom. Why can't I access my e-email with my AMD PC. MS suggested to upgrade my IE6 to IE8. I did that and when I clicked on it the PC hanged. Then they suggested to upgrade to SP3. When I did that during installation it stopped and a message came up saying it can't find procedure entry point and a certain file in the DLL. .

Thanks for helping me.

PS. Looks like I have to go for Windows 7.

Outlook is just the client. You don't have to use it. It's a personal choice. It has nothing to do with Pentium or AMD. You can use any client or the web page if it's available.

You mentioned Outlook without an explanation. Do you mean the email client Outlook Express which comes with XP, or Outlook that comes with Microsoft Office, or the online version,, which is replacing Hotmail?

"Looks like I have to go for Windows 7"

Why? If you're still running SP2 & IE6 in 2013, you obviously didn't maintain XP very well. Do you think you'll maintain Win7 any better? Does your system have at least 2GB RAM? If not, Win7 won't perform very well.

I suggest you stick with XP & just bring it up to date. Both SP3 & IE8 should be downloaded directly from Microsoft, not thru Windows Update. That way you can save copies for future use. Once they're both installed, THEN run Windows Update. Run it over & over until you've installed ALL available updates. You can download SP3 & IE8 here:

IE8 >>

Dear riider ,

You are right, I did not maintain my Windows XP very well. My outlook must be online version, because MS urged me to change , click here it said so I clicked and Hotmail changed to Outlook. It should be the new version.

I will try once again to download SP3 and IE8. I downloaded from MS download center. I followed MS message (click here)

Well thank you riider I hope to settle this problem.
