Subject: Outlook 2007 Causes Stop Error??OS: XP Pro SP2CPU/Ram: 3GBModel/Manufacturer: P4 2.8 (custom) |
Comment: My computer crashed unexpectedly one day, and a blue stop error screen appeared (0x0000007f). After troubleshooting, I narrowed it down to a problem with Outlook. Every time I open Outlook 2007 it says the old "your data file is being checked... last time it wasn't shut down properly". I'm connecting to a SBS 2003 Exchange Server. Here are some of the things I've already tried: -switching out memory, one-by-one -opening Outlook in Safe Mode -starting XP in Safe Mode, then running Outlook -moving the HDD to another computer w/ different MOBO & memory -repairing Outlook 2007 -uninstalling/reinstalling Outlook 2007 -opening the Exchange data file on another computer running Outlook 2007 (it works fine there) In all of these cases, once I open Outlook 2007 and it finishes checking the file for errors, a stop error occurs and the PC restarts. Anyone have any ideas???

Reply: (edit)I would probably start by removing the Outlook key under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook (with the user logged in of course.) Then reopen Outlook and see if that makes a difference. If not, I'd just recreate the local user profile and have the user login again to recreate the profile. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)The new profile still returned the same error. Which specific key are you referring to in that folder? Or do you mean the entire "Outlook" folder.
