I am using Outlook 2003, SP 1 on my Windows XP system. When I close outlook, either from the X in the top right, or through the file menu. Outlook closes but still stays active. The Outlook icon is still visible on the taskbar by the clock. I have to go into TakManager and kill the Outlook process. Has anyone else ran into this issue and if so, what needs to be done to fix it?

If this is a new problem , probably due to a new program install .
Try eliminating program startups ( programs running in the background ) one at a time . Right clicking on the logo's ( next to the clock ) & clicking on close or exit , will do some of them .
