Has anyone discovered what to do when from loading Outlook 2002 (after uninstalling Office 2000 and reinstalling Office 2002) and the Outlook won't open--at all?
Somehow lost a .dll file--no help at Microsoft although they recognize the issue. Please help!!

Now I can't even get it to give me the message when I try to open it. What I get now is: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Unable to display the selected folder or item. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid.
I will keep looking for the message I got before, but may have 'lost' it as I have tried to open it from various areas. Any help you can give would be g r e a t l y appreciated.

Hi Outlook Tech
I 'found' the prior message. It is: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The .DLL file for the information service could not be found, MAP1 was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured.
Thanks!

Your outlook profile and pst file are corrupt...OK, the work around for this error message is to create a new profile and pst file in Outlook. Click on start\control panel, brings up the control panel, then click on the Mail Icon, Easiest to fine in classic view, once you open the mail icon "mail setup" panel, click show profiles then click add, give it a profile name like your first name, click ok. It will bring up the accounts wizard, setup your email account. After you complete the setup you should endup in the mail window. At the bottom make sure the dot is in "always use this profile" and in the drop down window make sure you new profile is selected, then click ok. Try to open Outlook, should open fine now. If your missing any mail or contacts when you open it let me know, you will need to try to import then from your old pst file called "outlook.pst" If your not missing or don't need them, your done and Outlook should work fine now.
