I have a unique problem. Outlook 2000 will not stay open in XP. If you click on it, it flashes open then closes. It will not stay open. I have similar problem with Excel. I have installed all updates I can find. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. I do not want to use Outlook Express. Thanks.

when that happens to me, I just reboot the PC. but i assume that you have, i suggest getting your Office 2000 CD and re-install outlook from it.

Office 2000 is supposed to work on XP so long as you have the XP updates. Did you go to Ofice Update and get the XP updates before or after you tried to open Ofice on XP? Since you have Office 2000, is it fair to assume that you upgraded from some other O/S to XP? If so, did you uninstall Office and reinstall it on XP?
If you didn't uninstall Off prior to upgrading to XP, then I would suggest (a) uninstall Office, (b) reinstall Office, (c) go to Windows Update and install any Office related updates it has, and (d) go to Office update and install updates it suggests. Before uninstalling, you can save your Outlook folders as mail archive files (*.pst) that can be imported to the newly installed Outlook.
Another possibility is running Office programs in compatibility mode, but that is a circumvention (if it works), not a real soultion.
